    About the Series

    About:

    “Positive Results”

    “Positive Results”

NCTC College Day table photo taken at Greensboro College.

The “Identity” series delves into parts of the human identity; how the physical world defines us, how mentally we view ourselves or others, and how we explore personality, sexuality ,and gender.

    “Positive Results”

    “Positive Results”

    “Positive Results”

Positive Results - blue, red, and purple ballpoint pen with papercut layers.

Investigating how one may feel insecure in their environment through the use of masks and glowing red hands. Germs mean danger in the world of a raging pandemic. Created in 2021.

    “Gifted Kid”

    “Positive Results”

    “I Wish I Were Perfect”

Gifted Kid - yellow, green, and black ballpoint pen on mixed media paper.

Gifted Kid can be defined as someone who was put into the gifted learning program in elementary school, but now experiences severe burnout and feels utterly mediocre intellectually.

    “I Wish I Were Perfect”

    “I Wish I Were Perfect”

    “I Wish I Were Perfect”

I Wish I Were Perfect - purple, pink, and black ballpoint pen on mixed media paper.

Modeled after a friend’s personal struggle with perfection. This piece includes their writing about feeling like a “freak show”, and how they feel like everyone is watching and judging them.

    “Control”

    “I Wish I Were Perfect”

    “Celestial Bodies”

Control - ballpoint pen, alcohol ink, and papercutting on mixed media and sticker paper layers.

Delving into the need for control and the lack thereof through busy patterns. Modeled off the idea that having more hands would make life easier, instead, the need for control becomes more intense.

    “Celestial Bodies”

    “I Wish I Were Perfect”

    “Celestial Bodies”

Celestial Bodies - ballpoint pen and alcohol ink on mixed media paper.

An exploration of love through feminine bodies, both love for self and love for another. The blue figure is modeled after the Moon, while the green figure portrays the Ocean.
